Check Lapeer County Arrests

A VINE arrest check is the quickest way to follow one person's custody status after an arrest in Lapeer County. The service costs nothing to use. It also lets you register for notices about a release, a transfer, an escape, or a court event. Michigan feeds it data from participating agencies. But it is not a live jail census. It will not work as a federal locator either, so confirm any result with the agency holding the person.

Run a Lapeer VINE Check

Start at the official VINELink entry page. Skip any commercial people-search site. Pick Michigan before typing a name or identifier. The state route currently leads to a Michigan person search, though a JavaScript app can shift its exact address. Keep the full legal name plus another identifying fact handy, because a shared name alone proves nothing.

  1. Select Michigan. Confirm the state shown in the interface before searching. A Lapeer arrest should not be inferred from a result in another jurisdiction.
  2. Enter supported information. Search with the person’s name or an available identification number. Try a supported spelling or name variation if the first attempt returns nothing.
  3. Compare possible matches. Review identifiers, the reporting agency, case information, and custody location when displayed. Do not select a record solely because the names match.
  4. Open the matching record. Note the displayed custody status, source, and time of access. VINELink data can change as the agency updates it.
  5. Confirm important facts. For immediate custody confirmation, contact the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office at (810) 664-1801. Use the county arrest and records hub for booking-record and court paths.

The Michigan VINELink person-search screen is the direct interface for the state selection.

Lapeer VINE Result Fields

Every result reflects only what the responsible agency sends to the program. It may describe an offender, a case, or custody event. No field is guaranteed for every record. The table separates what a search can genuinely establish. It also shows what VINELink itself does not prove.

Possible result itemHow to read it
Name or identifierA matching aid, not proof by itself that the record belongs to the intended person.
Custody statusThe status most recently reported to VINE; it may lag a new booking, release, or transfer.
Facility or agencyThe location or reporting body supplied to the system, subject to later movement.
Booking or case informationAvailable details about an event or case, not a complete official booking sheet.
Notification optionsEvents and delivery methods offered for that particular record.
Court-event informationA notice aid where supported, not a certified disposition or complete docket.

VINELink is not a booking-photo source. The current Lapeer County sheriff site posts no documented public jail roster. It also stays silent on booking photographs appearing online. A specific booking record or photograph has to be requested through the county FOIA channel. That remains the practical path for anyone seeking a Lapeer County booking photo. No shortcut exists.

Register for Lapeer Custody Alerts

If a matching result shows a Notify Me button, registration opens alerts for the events and channels available on that record. Michigan materials mention online, phone, and email access. The interface may also support texts or an app. Where the system allows it, more than one trusted contact can register.

  1. Open the correct result. Recheck identity and reporting details before choosing Notify Me.
  2. Select an event. Available choices may include release, transfer, escape, a custody change, or a court event. Options vary by record.
  3. Choose delivery details. Enter the supported phone number, email address, or other contact route carefully.
  4. Create the required PIN. Telephone registration uses a confidential four-digit PIN. Email registration does not use that same phone PIN.
  5. Save confirmation information. Record the registration details and keep the contact information current. Follow the system’s directions to update or cancel notices.

Call (800) 770-7657 for telephone help. The state brochure adds TTY access at (866) 847-1298. Never share a registration with someone who might pose a danger, and keep the PIN private because it guards telephone notification settings.

Lapeer Joined VINE in 2018

Lapeer County's participation has a paper trail. The 2024 board packet dates the county's joining to May 2018. It also credits hands-on help from the Victim Rights Unit. That unit reported 528 court-event registrations in the prior calendar year. A 2023 county packet uses similar language. It counted 534 registrations for its stated period. Those are dated program statistics. Not the live Lapeer County Jail headcount. They document real county use and victim assistance, but they say nothing about current or total arrests.

When a VINE Search Is Empty

An empty result is not an all-clear. An arrest may still have happened. The person could be newly booked and unreported. Release, transfer, or a different name entry could also hide the record. Some detentions simply sit outside participating systems. State or federal custody calls for a different locator. Before giving up, confirm Michigan is selected and retry only the name or identifier variations the interface allows. For possible current county custody, call the Sheriff's Office. Lapeer posts no official same-day web feed, which the Arrested Today page explains. A later case may surface through the 71A District Court, the 40th Circuit Court, or MiCOURT. A sentenced person under state supervision belongs in MDOC OTIS.

Notification data can lag behind events. For urgent custody facts, call the responsible jail or agency, and never build a safety plan on VINE alone.

Federal Custody Uses Other Tools

Federal custody works differently. MI-VINE only tracks inmates held in Michigan systems, so a person moved from Lapeer County into federal hands will drop out of its results. For that situation, turn to the official Federal Bureau of Prisons locator instead. The BOP database reaches back to 1982 and stays current. Keep one caution in mind, though: a release noted by the BOP does not always mean the person is free, since a different agency may still hold them.

Immigration detention runs on its own track as well. ICE custody calls for the official detainee locator, while DHS-VINE sends notifications for supported immigration cases. None of these federal searches produces a Lapeer County booking photo or arrest record, so keep the results separate from any MI-VINE lookup. The DHS-VINE service simply shows how this second federal channel operates on its own.

Treat it as a federal tool only. It cannot stand in for Michigan or Lapeer County custody confirmation.

VINE Notices and Personal Safety

A notice is a prompt, not a promise. Delivery can lag for several reasons. Agency entry time, a transfer, network availability, and program reporting choices all play a part. The person may have moved again by the time a message lands. When timing matters, call the responsible agency. VINE backs up none of the things that keep you safe. It does not replace 911, an attorney, a court clerk, direct jail confirmation, or a personal safety plan. For immediate danger, call 911 now. Lapeer County victims helped by the Victim Rights Unit can ask that unit about registration guidance documented in county materials. Store your confirmation details somewhere safe. Update your telephone or email details whenever they change.
