Information You Submit
Search entries
A name, place, or other query entered in a search tool passes to the independent provider operating that tool. We do not store or log those search terms on our systems.
Messages
An email or contact-form message may be kept long enough to answer it. We do not share a message outside the organization unless the law requires disclosure.
Automatic Technical Data
Routine logs and measurement services may receive technical information when a page loads.
- Internet Protocol address
- Browser name and version
- Device type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent
- Referring site, when available
- Date and time stamps
Cookies
Cookies help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can block or remove them, though some functions may then work differently.
How Data Is Used
- Operate the site and maintain its speed
- Send a search request to the selected partner
- Understand which pages readers use
- Diagnose and repair technical faults
- Present advertising that may reflect visitor interests
Links and Outside Services
Links may lead to the Lapeer County Sheriff, county FOIA materials, Michigan corrections and court resources, federal locators, or third-party search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination’s privacy policy controls.
Advertising partners may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. We do not control that tracking.
When Data May Be Shared
We do not sell personal information. Data may be handled by search partners processing a query, analytics providers, advertising networks, or a law-enforcement or government body acting under a valid legal order.
Security Measures
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used to protect information. No internet-connected service is completely secure, so we cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Visitors Under Eighteen
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian may use the Contact Us page to request deletion if a minor submitted information.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law, a person may ask for a copy of personal data we hold, request a correction or deletion, or object to certain processing. Send the request through Contact Us. Michigan public records held by an agency are governed separately by the Michigan Freedom of Information Act, MCL 15.231 through 15.246, and the agency’s retention duties.
Notice Updates
We may revise this privacy notice. A revised version takes effect when it is posted here with its new effective date.
